Grow Your Own comes of

Age – and increases sales

Grow Your Own came of age this year at Chelsea, with many of the show gardens and Great Pavilion stands creating stunning displays and ideas that has been reflected in the TV coverage and the enthusiasm of the 157,000 visitors.

And if anyone still needs convincing of how you can turn all that public interest into sales, then look no further than the gold-medal winning Notcutts display in the Great Pavilion. Wonderfully creative raised beds of veg, flowers and bay trees, plus that ground-breaking Black Pekin Bantam in its purple coop – all help create sales growth within retail. “We

have been ramping up Kitchen Garden for the last three years and the growth has been fantastic, coupled with the sales of associated sundries,” Sally Reed, of Notcutts Garden Centres told GrowRetail. “Particular interest is in patio growing and, naturally, it's a great opportunity for children to learn about where food comes from and spend time with the adults in their lives.”

Keep checking this new area of the site over the next week for our picks of the best Chelsea display ideas for sales success.

SALES-PLUS: This is how Notcutts have driven sales in store. Their Kitchen Garden displays catch the eye and the wallet. Note eye-catching props and how compost is part of the table display.

The Children’s Society Garden

Bikes, vertical gardening and a water display – it’s all happening at The Childrens Society Chelsea show garden.

IDEA: Lifestyle displays work – think about mixing the Raleigh bike stand with vertical plant displays and instant water features and watch the sales soar.

And yes, this garden included veg as well.

Scotts grow sales as well as veg

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show is not just about flowers. Fruit and vegetable lovers’ won’t be disappointed this year – and Scotts showed the way. Take a look at how many products you could cram in by creating a similar display. Gazebos, Buildings, veg plants, hurdles – and that’s before you get to that Scotts Organic Choice range.

Off the Main Avenue are the Courtyard Gardens, smaller gardens showing what can be done with a much smaller space.
